Below are the Nurses basic requirements for USA:
1). Graduated from a college with at least 3 year
nursing education
2). Having a registered nurse license at the home
country
3). Having minimum 2 years working experience at
hospitals
4). CGFNS Certification
5). TOEFL Certification if applicable.
If they have these qualifications, the hospital
will
be able to apply for a temporary nursing license
valid
for 6 months and working visa enabling them to
enter
the U.S. to take employment immediately after
arrival
and attend there 8-week review class at the same
in
order to get prepared for passing the license
exam.
NCLEX-RN.
Then the hospital will help them roll over to
permanent residency once they pass NCLEX-RN
within 6
months time. Most important is that when they are
waiting for the result of NCLEX-RN and when the
immigrant petition is under process, they are are
still eligible to work without being required to
leave
the U.S.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CANADA To practice as a registered nurse in BC,Canada, a nurse must be registered with the Registered Nurse Association of British Columbia. In accordance with the Nurses (Registered) Act and Rules under the Act, each application is assessed to determine if the applicant meets the following requirements: 1. Completion of a nursing education program deemed equivalent to an approved B.C. program at the time of assessment for registration 2. Competence to practice as a nurse, based on nursing education or practice hours in the previous five years, employment references, and registration examination results
3. Good character - based on references, no record of outstanding criminal charges or convictions relevant to the practice of nursing
4. Fitness to engage in the practice of nursing - based on satisfactory employment references, registration in good standing in other jurisdictions and no health problems that impair ability to practice
5. Fluency in English; if native language is not English, passing scores at TOEFL (550) / TSE (50) or IELTS (overall band score of 6.5 with a band score of 7 on the speaking test and no band score less than 6)
